Bitcoin Emissions Certificate Alliance
Welcome to the
BEC Registry
Data Infrastructure To Enable Attribute Tracking on the Bitcoin Network
The BEC Alliance (BECA) aims to develop a standardized methodology that allows for the transfer of environmental attributes from Bitcoin miners to Bitcoin users. This methodology will accurately quantify the carbon impact of Bitcoin data centers and issue of attribute certificates based on their share of the network hashrate. The goal is to use this registry to allow Bitcoin users to claim the low-carbon attributes of mining activity to address their GHG Protocol Scope 3 emissions.
The BECA was established by Clean Incentive, which operates the registry, and the registry methodology is governed by the BECA advisory board.

Bitcoin Emissions Certificates (BECs)
Bitcoin Emissions Certificates (BECs) represent the carbon intensity of holding one Bitcoin for one day. Sourced from low-carbon miners, BECs allow for industry-average emissions factors to be replaced with supplier-specific emissions factors following a market-based scope 3 GHG reporting framework.
